Kala Azar (2020)
Director: Janis Rafa
92 minutes
Greek; Turkish and English subtitles
Kala Azar follows a young couple who work for a pet cremation service, collecting and returning the remains of animals to their grieving owners. As they move between homes and roadside spaces, they quietly perform rituals of care—both for animals and for each other. Their routine unfolds in a strange, nearly silent world where the borders between the living and the dead, humans and animals, begin to blur.
With minimal dialogue and atmospheric images, the film creates a meditative space to reflect on death, mourning, and our connection to other species.
The free-admission screening is open to everyone.
