Deniz Yonucu

Deniz Yonucu is a PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology at Cornell University. Her early work focused on the criminalization and marginalization of the working class youth in İstanbul and she has published a number of articles related to these areas of research. As part of her PhD. project Yonucu is currently investigating the emergence of what she describes as “states of exception” in areas of central İstanbul and the effects these zones have on the city’s working class populations.
