Walk-in Cinema
Salt is hosting the 6th Istanbul International Experimental Film Festival, organized by Istanbul Experimental.
The first day of the festival centers on personal narratives related to the body, memory, and belonging, articulated through Super 8 film, collage, and animation. The second day's program features a series of essay films exploring the relationship between nature, archives, and representation, as well as an animation workshop on motion capture technologies. The third day's selection engages with themes of borders, memory, surveillance, and the role of sound in storytelling, while the fourth day reflects on life, death, and legacy through archival footage. The festival ends on May 11 with a series of short films by emerging directors focusing on family, memory, and personal history, followed by a talk and screening in memory of Teoman Madra, who passed away recently, with the participation of artist, academic, and musician Selçuk Artut.
This free-admission program is open to everyone. All films will be screened in their original language with Turkish subtitles. For more information, click
